Shmuz #195

Stop Playing G-d!

I know what I need! I need to marry that woman. I need to get that job. I need my child to get into that class. And HASHEM just won’t listen! I have tried to speak to HASHEM. I even daven. But nothing helps. For some strange reason, HASHEM won’t give me what I need.

85% of our emunah problems come from just such thinking: assuming that I know exactly what it is that I need. And then when it doesn’t come, I have questions on HASHEM. Why? Why? Why?

Part of being a mature, thinking person is recognizing that I don’t really know. I don’t really know where I will be ten years from now. I don’t know what life will look like twenty years from now. And I don’t really know what’s best for me. But HASHEM does.
